The first suspect was wearing a black coat, dark jeans, dark shoes, a blue backpack, and a brown single strap bag. The second suspect was wearing a light blue jacket, brown gloves, grey pants, a purple duffle bag, and brown running shoes with white soles.

Robbery on January 6, 2021

On Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at approximately 6:30 p.m., two suspects attended a convenience store in the area of McNabb Street. 

The female purchased some items while at the counter, while the male allegedly selected several items valued at approximately $30 and concealed them in his coat. 

There was an altercation inside the store between the suspects and the store clerk. The store clerk followed them out of the store until they were threatened with a knife and told to stop following them. The suspects were last seen near Poplar Avenue.

Theft from Rankin Arena

On December 19, 2020, at approximately 4:10 p.m. an unknown suspect entered the Rankin Arena located at 17 Batchewana Street, Batchewana First Nation.  The suspect walked throughout the arena for approximately 2 ½ hours before leaving with a Electro Static Disinfecting Machine bright green in color valued $1,500.00

Break and Enter and Mischief

During the break and enter on November 6, 2020, at 5:25 am, the suspect attended a local compound where several vehicles were entered and three vehicles had their windows smashed out. 

This compound had a total of 15 catalytic converters stolen within a week of this incident.

There have been several complaints of catalytic converters being stolen from vehicles in our community.

Snowblower Theft

On November 25, 2020, between the hours of 9:00 pm and 7:00 am, unknown suspects entered the property in the 0-100 block of Wilcox Avenue and pushed a snowblower down the driveway.

The snowblower is described as a red 2020 Honda Track. It was a brand new purchase and valued at $6,850. 

The suspects left the property on foot heading south towards Walnut Street.

Break and Enter on Garside Road
October 13, 2020

Crime Stoppers and the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police are requesting your assistance in identifying a suspect involved in an incident of break, enter and theft.  

Between August 6th, 2020 and August 28th, 2020, suspects attended a camp on Garside Road, Hilton Township. Once at the property suspects broke the lock off of the shed and forced their way into the trailer. 

The suspects also stole numerous items before leaving the property valued at approximately $9,000.00. 

The following items were taken during the incident: 

  • 2 Kayaks with paddles

  • Yellow Champion 3500 – 4000 Watt generator

  • 15.5hp Yardworks riding lawn mower

  • Stihl gas weed eater

  • Compressor

  • 12V trolling motor

  • Yellow wheelbarrow

  • 100 Watt Solar Panel

  • Fuel cans with fuel

  • 4 x 30lb propane tanks full

  • Various shovels and rakes

  • 2 fishing rods

  • Barbeque

  • Large plastic garbage can

  • Socket set

  • Loppers

$10,000 of Commercial Fishing Nets Stolen
October 05, 2020

Crime Stoppers and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry are seeking the public’s assistance for information concerning a theft of commercial fishing nets.  

Allegedly, sometime between the 1st and 20th of September, in the late afternoon, between 4:00 pm and 5:30 pm, commercial fish operators have had fishing nets and their content stolen from the Whalesback Channel. This is in the area of the North Channel of Lake Huron. A blue and lighter colored boat with a black motor has been observed in the area at the time of the thefts.

The estimated value of the stolen nets and content is $10,000.
